KONICA MINOLTA INTRODUCES THE bizhub™ 350/250/200 MFP SERIES

RAMSEY, N.J. — October 17, 2005 — Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (Konica Minolta) today introduced the bizhub™ 350/250/200 printer/copier/scanner/fax series.  Ideal replacements for Segment 1, 2 and 3 monochrome multifunctional products (MFPs), with print/copy speeds ranging from 35 pages per minute (ppm) to 20 ppm, the bizhub 350/250/200 series enables small- to mid-sized businesses, departments and workgroups, as well as branch locations, to be at the “hub” of their business with the devices’ advanced productivity, image quality and versatility. 

Standard Emperon Print System and Scanning Features
Breaking new ground, the bizhub 350/250/200 series comes equipped with the Konica Minolta-developed Emperon Print System, featuring standard PS3 and PCL6 printing, as well as standard network scanning (Scan-to-Email; Scan-to-FTP; Scan-to-SMB; Scan-to-HDD, with optional HDD; URL Notification; and Internet Faxing).  In addition to its standard printing and scanning functionality, the Emperon Print System offers users the best in efficiency and flexibility with its wide array of print drivers, network protocols and network interface capabilities.

High Quality Imaging and Flexible Paper Handling
With 600 x 600 dpi print/copy resolution and 256 levels of grayscale halftone reproduction, the bizhub 350/250/200 series produces clear text and sharp edges.  To achieve consistent, high-image quality, the bizhub 350/250/200 series utilizes Konica Minolta Simitri® Polymerized Toner, which maintains the uniformity of the toner particles for more even distribution, significantly better halftone definition and better solid fills. 

With these image quality features, plus a standard paper capacity of 1,250 sheets (including a 150-sheet intelligent bypass tray), an expandable paper capacity up to 4,000 sheets, and the ability to handle up to 55 3/4 lb. bond paper through the manual bypass, the bizhub 350/250/200 series is designed to handle a vast variety of printing needs, including OHP transparencies, postcards, envelopes and labels.

Advanced Security Features
With the importance of document security in today’s business environment, the bizhub 350/250/200 series features an extensive host of security features, including:  Administrative Management Mode Access; HDD/Folder Password, Print Lock Job, Account Track, SMTP and User Authentication; and SSL (Security Socket Layer).  LDAP and Box Operations are also offered.  Additional security features will be available in 2006.

Optional High-Volume Faxing
Also available for the new bizhub 350/250/200 series is the optional 33.6Kbps Super G3 analog FAX functionality.  The optional fax capabilities include:  32 MB of memory, transmissions in B&W up to 11″ x 17″, JBIG data compression, up to 600 x 600 fax TX resolution, duplex TX and PC Faxing.

Finishing Options for Maximum Productivity
The modular bizhub 350/250/200 series lets businesses add finishing options based on their current needs.  Finishing options available for the bizhub 350/250/200 series include:  sorting and grouping, stapling, two- and three-hole punching, saddle-stitch booklet making (stapled and/or crease-folded), and printer addressable mail bins.

PageScope Suite Provides Network and Document Workflow Management Functions
Available for the bizhub 350/250/200 series is the PageScope Software Suite, Konica Minolta’s robust family of integrated software applications and utilities that help businesses save time, reduce costs and increase productivity.  The bizhub 350/250/200 series and the PageScope Software Suite equal a powerful combination.  The PageScope Software Suite delivers networked information flow from the desktop, enabling businesses to manage their bizhub documents and bizhub devices more effectively through a single interoperative system for increased efficiency.  Included in this suite of products is PageScope Net Care and PageScope Web Connection, as well as PageScope utilities such as PageScope Data Administrator, and PageScope plug-ins — PageScope EMS Plug-Ins and NDPS Gateway. 

PageScope Net Care provides network administrators with detailed information about the operating conditions of all networked output devices containing a Management Information Base (MIB) from any Web browser.  Built into every bizhub device, PageScope Web Connection allows users to instantly check device conditions on all network-connected Konica Minolta printer/copiers from their desktop.  PageScope EMS Plug-Ins and NDPS Gateway allow for seamless connections to Enterprise or Novell Distributed Print Services.

In addition, PageScope Data Administrator permits bizhub 350/250/200 users to remotely configure Users/Accounts/Abbreviated Addresses (one touches) in one step, directly from the desktop.  With PageScope Data Administrator, backing up/restoring devices and maintaining device setup has never been easier.

Available as options for the bizhub 350/250/200 series are PageScope Router, which offers the ability to scan and distribute documents in one easy step, quickly moving information from a user’s bizhub to any network destination or the Internet; and PageScope Workware, a simple yet powerful document management program that will be available in late 2005.
